Green Card Options for Foreigners/Noncitizens, Particularly Professionals and Researchers
To professionals and researchers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) — particularly those with advanced degrees — you may be qualified for a GREEN CARD through EB-2 (NIW).
If you are a PHD holder in any of the fields of STEM, you may be qualified for a GREEN CARD through EB-2 (NIW).
If you have at least 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience in the fields of STEM, that is equivalent to an advanced degree: and you may be qualified for a GREEN CARD through EB-2 (NIW).
If you have recently completed your advanced degrees — particularly PHD holders in the fields of STEM — you may be qualified for a GREEN CARD through EB-2 (NIW).
Eligibility is NOT restricted to those in the fields of STEM. Professionals and researchers in the non-STEM fields can also satisfy the statutory requirements.
I recommend this option (and there are other options under employment-based immigrant visas) for accomplished professionals who are considering immigrating to the U.S. with their IMMEDIATE family members (spouse and children below the age of 18). If you are already legally present in the United States — with a VALID nonimmigrant visa (and you can satisfy the underlying requirements) —you may be qualified for a GREEN CARD through EB-2 (NIW).
